Google Cloud Unveils Web3 Portal: Blockchain Developers React
Resources for blockchain developers, such as datasets and tutorials on developing non-fungible tokens (NFT), are now available through Google Cloud’s new Web3 portal. But the Bitcoin industry’s reaction has been all over the map.
“There isn’t any built-in bitcoin and lightning support.” It appears to have been a mistake to disregard the most significant cryptocurrency,” Unchained’s VP of product marketing, Phil Geiger, said in an April 25 X post.
Crypto trader MartyParty, who goes by the nickname “Marty” on Twitter, informed his 80,700 X followers on April 26 that Google is far behind. However, not everyone was so opposed to the launch. In an April 25 article on X, Ivaibi Festo, creator of Mitroplus Labs, characterized the Web3 portal as a “comprehensive resource.”
The website offers products and testnet tokens for developers to deploy and test DApps on Ethereum testnets Sepolia and Holesky. The Learn program includes courses on NFT development, Web3 loyalty programs, and multi-party computation (MPC) digital asset security.
Google has made significant Web3 industry advances recently. Google now lets people search wallet balances across Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom.
Google allowed Bitcoin exchange-traded funds to be marketed on major search engines in 2024. Last year, Google appeared to be focusing on partnerships for its gateway debut this year.
Google Cloud’s BigQuery data warehouse was linked with MultiversX in October 2023, helping Web3 projects and users gain insights from Google Cloud’s sophisticated data analytics and AI tools.
In September 2023, Google’s BigQuery added 11 blockchain networks to its data warehouse. Avalanche, Arbitrum, Cronos, Ethereum’s Görli testnet, Fantom, Near, Optimism, Polkadot, Polygon’s mainnet, Mumbai testnet, and Tron were the new networks.
